Have you ever experienced a tooth ache or sensitivity without any obvious cause, it can be a dental caries or a tooth decay.
A Tooth decay develops when food rich in carbohydrates (sugars) stays on tooth for longer durations. Such kind of food includes breads, biscuits, cakes, chocolates, soda, junk foods and many more. The bacteria that normally live in the mouth start digesting this food and forming acids. The mixture of food, bacteria, acid and saliva forms plaque which sticks to tooth surface. The acids in plaque dissolve the underlying enamel of the tooth, creating craters / cracks in teeth which we know as cavities.
