    Tooth Colored Fillings in Delhi

Cavities are as common as common cold, but if ignored can reduce life of your tooth

Have you ever experienced a tooth ache or sensitivity without any obvious cause, it can be a dental caries or a tooth decay. It develops when food rich in carbohydrates (sugars) stays on tooth for longer durations. Such kind of food includes breads, biscuits, cakes, chocolates and many more. The bacteria that normally live in the mouth start digesting this food and form acids. The mixture of food, bacteria, acid and saliva forms plaque which sticks to tooth surface. The acids in plaque dissolve the underlying enamel of the tooth, creating craters / cracks in teeth which we know as cavities.

    Symptoms of a tooth cavity

    • Most commonly cavities do not cause any perceivable symptoms.
    • May appear as a chalky white area on tooth, or brown / black stains.
    • A progressive discolouration on any area of teeth.
    • Sensitivity to heat, cold foods or drinks.
    • Pain in teeth on chewing or on rest.
    • Bad breath or bad taste in mouth.
    • Sometimes pieces of tooth may fall in mouth.

      What are fillings?

A cavity never heals by itself; it only grows bigger with time. A cavity healing by itself is very rare. A cavity leaves you with only one option i.e. to get it filled. A cavity if neglected will grow with time and involve deeper structures like dentin and pulp tissue; at this stage only treatment left is root canal treatment or extraction.

A filling is a non-reactive substance derived from resins and biocompatible. First we remove the carious part of the tooth with special rotating instruments and fill the gap with the resin material which solidifies and provides strength to your tooth. The fillings done by Dr Shikha are stronger, more natural, lasts longer and pain free.

At Goel dental this procedure is done under dental microscope giving you additional benefit in terms of longevity of tooth filling and high quality.

      How long fillings can last?

Tooth fillings is not a permanent solution. A good quality may last between 3-5 years. It is advised that you should visit your dentist regularly for follow up and practice good oral hygiene to add life to your fillings.

How many types of fillings are available?

Tooth fillings can be classified as Resin fillings, Composite Fillings, Glass Ionomer Fillings, Silver Fillings and Temporary Fillings. Choice of filling material depends on the type of decay and your age. At Goel Dental filling material of international brands like 3M and Dentsply is used for filling.

What is ceramic or a porcelain filling?

Sometimes a cavity is too big to be corrected by filling material. In such cases tooth defect is scanned with a digital scanner and the impression is converted into an exactly fitting ceramic material. This small ceramic replica is fixed into the cavity with specialised bonding agent thus saving your tooth from a root canal and crown treatment. This facility is also available with Goel Dental as a part of its single day dentistry portfolio
